I’m Amy McMullin. I teach Computer Systems & Information Technology and Applied Cybersecurity at Immokalee Technical College (iTECH) in Collier County, Florida, where I’ve taught since 2012. Before teaching, I spent more than a decade as a network engineer and administrator, and I bring that practitioner experience into a classroom built around industry certifications and real-world workforce skills.

I was named the 2025–2026 Outstanding Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year for Collier County Public Schools.

What I’m working on

• The iTECH AI Innovation Lab. A station-based lab where student teams rotate through hands-on AI equipment, including robotic arms, AI robots, and handheld AI devices. The projects connect AI to physical, industrial applications such as manufacturing and inventory control.
• Industrial networking labs. A lab sequence for the Amatrol Skill Boss Logistics trainer that links conveyors, VFDs, and PLCs to network-layer analysis. AI extension labs onboard AI devices to the trainer’s network as managed assets.
• Hands-on security operations. Tiered SOC-analyst simulations on the Huntress EDR/SIEM platform, where returning students mentor new ones.
• Campus automation. Application, admissions, and certification-tracking systems built in Microsoft Forms and Power Automate that iTECH depends on every day.

Teaching and leadership

At iTECH, I serve as Department Chair, Canvas Point of Contact, and Building Technology Coordinator. I coach and mentor new teachers, run the campus Pearson VUE, Certiport, and Prometric testing center, and was selected for the first two cohorts of my district’s Innovative Teacher Leaders program. My courses follow the Florida DOE curriculum frameworks and Florida’s CAPE industry certification program, so students leave with credentials employers recognize.
